Yeshi Paljor

Yeshi Paljor is a PhD student at Graduate School of Education, SUNY Buffalo who is interested in the field of Computer Science education research. Through personal and professional experiences and commitments, he wants to engage in understanding how CS education could be designed and implemented in way that is not just drawing people out of their communities but rather incorporates it as a meaningful, relevant and supportive discipline to maintaining their indigenous identity. He believes at this stage of his academic pursuit, it would be important to understand what culturally sustaining pedagogies can offer to support the design and implementation such a meaningful CS education that caters to the needs and aspirations of specific communities, which in turn would support equitable, justice-oriented growth in CS education and outcomes that perpetuates as a result. As a researcher with CS background, it is also important to understand the perspectives where technologies could be leveraged to incorporate such pedagogical relevance and meaningfulness through innovation and design in tools for institutions, teachers and students as well. With the ubiquitousness of computing devices today, seamless design and incorporation of such technological innovations that could reflect the indigeneity of respective communities appears to be a gap that needs to be addressed.
