Story 23

So when I first went to college I was getting messages from random numbers and I would also get emails and because it was my first semester I thought that you know these are my counselors my advisors and they're trying to give me opportunities to work. So I was in my EOP class and EOP stands for Educational Opportunity Program. They show you a quick they put you in a class during the summer and that class is meant for you to learn how college will be later on even though it's easy. Anyways I would get messages and they would say oh please apply for this job you're very qualified you can work 10 hours a week and get 500 each week. Oh my stomach rumbled. And then I thought that these were real people like they're you know trying to get me to work so I responded back because I would also get emails and I come to find out through my EOP counselor that it's spam. It's just people trying to get your credit card information or it's just random people to try to get more information out of you to get more people to like do their spam or whatever. Anyways I learned that you have to ignore a bunch of messages like you have to find the real like you can't click on links you shouldn't open pictures you can't open PDFs but because your information is out there now like when you go to college I think you're on some roster from me. I was on the EOP thing and people can go through college websites and see your name your email and then they start texting you they start emailing you so they try to get you to you know pay them. Yeah. So the last part I think this can help schools learn about the dangers of immediately responding to random messages you know like a lot of kids will be like oh this is somebody I know or someone's trying to give me a job you shouldn't click on them. I think school should have some kind of tutorials or a class where they say hey this is how you know a message is real or an email is just spam. You know it's also they also just miss even they could message you in your own like your own number like that you use like it's it's something like this happened to me. Oh yeah? Yeah. What were they saying? They were like texting me hey like they know me. Mm-hmm yeah they say your name they're like hey Shanzeh hey yeah they know your information a lot of our stuff is out there man so yeah did you have any questions? Okay I had a lot of details all right I'm gonna end mine
